"CABEZON PEAK" is the largest of aproximately 50 volcanic peaks found in the "RIO PUERCA VALLEY" -These volcanic necks formed when molten lava worked its way to the earth's surface through sedimentary rock layers deposited millions of years ago by an inland sea covering this area - After the sea receded, erosion removed much of the softer sedimentary rock and exposed many coloms of basalt.
